A Lactation Lemonade You Can Sip Throughout Spring & Summer
Today we’re sharing an easy recipe to make with Milk Made Tea, our dried nettle leaf lactation aid. The recipe is for something I dubbed the Lauren Palmer, as its a riff on a popular mocktail made with lemonade and iced black tea made famous by someone named Arnold.
Our recipe includes instructions for what we think is the best lemonade we’ve ever tasted, but feel free to semi-homemake this, and use store bought lemonade if you’re not feeling like all that. Get the recipe.
My breastfeeding experience had a challenging start. I recently talked about this in Verywell Family, and the impact of historical events on my experience as a Black mother in the U.S. I feel very privileged to share my journey alongside 10 other Black women with varying experiences; each one unique. It is my hope that with more visibility, comes more culturally-competent care to medicine and healthcare.
I created Birthbox to solve this and other challenges of parenthood for other birthing people. The products we create, are exactly what I used to get myself through it.
I was living with gestational diabetes during my pregnancy and used honey instead of sugar in small amounts for this recipe. If you do not have that added challenge, sweetening the Milk Made tea liquid as well, gives this mocktail a southern swirl. Recipe here.
