It's Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week
Maternal Health Week kicks next month off and we’re spending the week talking about overcoming overwhelm.
There’s a whole lot of to-do’s on a new or expecting mom’s list. And we think you have enough to worry about already. which is why we are sharing tools, tips & templates to help you feel prepared and ace the early days of parenthood.
Did you know 1 out of 9 women in the United States experiences postpartum depression? The CDC estimates the numbers are as high as 1 in 5 in some states. While we’re not yet aware of any statistically significant data that exists about people who give birth while identifying as male, from what has been studied, trans people describe the experience as challenging.
These numbers are disturbingly high, but make sense given the lack of support so many new parents have access to during what is perhaps the most intense adjustment period you will ever experience. We believe you have enough to worry about which is why we’re sharing tips all week to help prepare yourself for labor and delivery, and your home for everything that comes after.
May 4-8 we’ll cover:
How to pack your hospital bag. What goes in it and what the hospital has for you.
How to prep your place before you leave
How to stock your kitchen for your return or ask for help
To breastfeed or not
Everything we know about giving birth and breastfeeding in the age of COVID-19
